Who We Are

Motherless Daughters is an Australian not for profit organisation dedicated to supporting young girls and women who have experienced mother loss. The organisation was founded in 2013 by two women with the hope of making a difference to the lives of those who have lost their mother prematurely, with firm beliefs that identification and being in contact with other motherless daughters is both therapeutic and comforting.

Our mission is to improve the lives of women facing life's milestones without the support of their mother from the unique perspective of first hand experience. We listen, guide, advise and empathise from one woman to another. The opportunity to guide and scaffold young girls and women through their formative development promises the hope of connected and healthy young people who have developed their resilience, social networks, support networks and a sense of hope for the future. It is through our unique and individual experiences and circumstances that we find comfort in the common ground we share amongst other likewise women and utilise these experiences to support, empower and promote growth beyond losing our mothers.

We acknowledge that at different ages, there are also different needs and understand that these needs change and differ over time, which is why Motherless Daughters chooses to focus on providing support reflective of such needs.

Motherless Daughters aims to support young girls, who have lost their mother prematurely via their fathers and/or extended families and support networks, through various programs.

For all other women, you are welcome and have the option of attending Tea with M.D and other future events to meet, greet and bond. We also look up to older women who were motherless daughters at a young age themselves, for inspiration and guidance having already faced life's milestones and encourage these women to get in touch and come along to any events.

Motherless Daughters is a support network of women walking in the same shoes and whilst it is important to acknowledge that we are not a counseling service, you can find links to other support services via out Support page.
