Local Community Catch Ups

A National Initiative Connecting Women Across Australia

At Motherless Daughters Australia, connection and support are at the heart of everything we do. Our Local Community Catch Ups are relaxed gatherings hosted by trusted MDA Community Representatives in each state and territory.

Whether it's a quiet coffee, a walk on the beach, or a casual meal, these relaxed gatherings offer a safe space to share experiences, connect, and feel understood by others who have experianced mother loss.

Hosted Nationally by Local Representatives

From major cities to regional towns, our network of Local Representatives brings these gatherings to life across the country. Each representative is a member of the MDA community and is here to support you wherever you are in your grief journey.

Gatherings are organised through our Private Peer Support Group on Facebook, so RSVPs and full details are only available to group members.

Danielle Fear

As the Motherless Daughters Australia Latrobe Valley Representative, I know what a privilege it is to be part of this compassionate community. I want to help provide a safe space for women and girls to connect, heal, and support one another through the lifelong journey of mother loss. Through the provision of Latrobe Valley and surrounds Community Catch Ups, I want to make sure that no one walks this path alone, empowering motherless daughters to find strength, connection, and a meaningful way to honour and express their grief.

Losing your mum can feel isolating, and in regional areas, support can be hard to find. I was blessed to have someone in my life who "got it" and helped me along the way but Finding the MDA community quite soon after I lost mum helped validate so much of my experience that felt too hard to share. I’m looking forward to connecting with other women in Central Queensland, creating a space where we can support and uplift each other.

Providing a safe and supportive space for our lovely ladies in South East Queensland is so important to me. Community catch-ups are an opportunity for each of us to feel ‘normal’ in our grief, all the other emotions, and memories. I look forward to creating many more opportunities for the ‘friends we’ve yet to meet’ and the friends we’ve already made, in the Support Group, to come together.

I am passionate about sharing the wonderful work that MDA is doing and looking forward to helping to build and grow MDA’s presence within the wider community, let’s all say her name.
